- Kerryann Added August 22, 2018★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆My son and I took our 8 yo STIHL chainsaw in for advice/service this afternoon - it wouldn't start - perhaps a cord jam?
The fellow on the desk quickly assessed the problem as "wrong fuel" which had caused the motor to cease. Suggested probably cheaper to simply throw it away and buy a new one. I attempted to argue it couldn't be the fuel as I had mixed the 2-stroke (as I have been for past 30 years) and we've been using the current can for past two weeks.He went on and on about the fuel - it was embarrassing. He resorted to dipping his finger into the fuel tank and flicking it onto a piece of paper in attempt to prove there wasn't any oil in the fuel (but thee was an oil mark). He then emerged from back of shop with some FILTHY old fuel and said "see this fuel is diff in colour? (yep it was - his was old and dirty). Again, he insisted we(I) had put the wrong fuel in the chainsaw". All I could see was that his fuel was old and dirty. We left to seek another opinion. Drove to Kenmore Mower and Power Equipment at Seventeen Mile Rocks and was served by a pleasant and knowledgeable man who took
